Federica Potere

Postdoc fellow

Federica Potere is a postdoctoral fellow at the Pancreatic Surgery and Engineering Lab at Humanitas University. She earned her PhD in Bioengineering from Politecnico di Milano, where she focused on designing and developing hydrogels and bioinks for the biofabrication of a self-supporting, multi-layered, 3D bioprinted construct aimed at regenerating biologically functional tissues.

Her diverse research experience spans several laboratories in Italy and the United States, including Virginia Commonwealth University and Northwestern University. Working in these international and interdisciplinary environments, she developed expertise in a wide range of laboratory techniques, supported complex modeling and experimental workflows, and fostered collaboration across disciplines such as medicine, biology, physics, and mathematics.

Currently, her research focuses on developing biomaterials capable of replicating both the mechanical and biological properties of native tissues, while supporting cell growth and function. She is also involved in the mechanical characterization of biological tissues to better inform the design of engineered constructs.

Looking ahead, Federica aims to apply her passion for 3D bioprinting, biomaterials, regenerative medicine, and biology to advance these fields and contribute meaningfully to scientific innovation.
