Sofia Buzzi graduated with a master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2025. She is currently a research fellow at the Hepatobiliary Immunopathology laboratory at Humanitas Research Hospital, where she previously worked as a thesis student. Her research project focuses on the application of a Cholangiocarcinoma-on-chip microfluidic platform to study the mechanisms underlying cholangiocarcinoma and its response to pharmacological treatments.
She has a strong interest in bioengineering and translational medicine, with a focus on applying technological tools to better understand diseases and support the development of effective treatments. In particular, she is interested in Organ-on-chip (OoC) systems as alternative in vitro models to study biological mechanisms and disease progression, aiming to reduce the use of animal models and promote personalized approaches.
