Arianna Callera is a PhD student in Bioengineering at Politecnico di Milano, currently collaborating with Humanitas Research Hospital as part of her doctoral research.
Arianna holds dual master’s degrees in Materials and Nanotechnology Engineering and Biomedical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano. For her master thesis she analyzed the effects of mechanical and geometrical characteristics of the Valsava sinuses on the performance of heart valve prostheses.
In 2023 she joined the group of professor Zerbi and professor Costantino for her PhD. Her research focuses on the characterization of biological tissues, particularly the pancreas, and the development of phantoms. She extensively utilizes 3D printing technology to create biological models targeted to specific needs. In particular her PhD project concerns the mechanical characterization of pancreatic parenchima and main pancreatic duct and the development of a phantom for surgical training.
Her work on pancreas has been published in Biomedicines and presented at several international conferences, including ESB and ICMMB.
