Emma Confortola graduated in 2024 with both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano, with a focus on biomechanics and biomaterials. During her Master thesis, carried out as part of an internship at Humanitas Research Hospital, she worked on the mechanical characterization of pancreatic tissue through indentation testing.
Since September 2024, Emma has been working as a Research Fellow in the Pancreatic Surgery and Engineering Lab at Humanitas University under the supervision of Dr. Francesco De Gaetano. Her activities focus on the mechanical characterization of biological tissues using the bioindenter and rheometer, providing essential data for the development of realistic phantoms used in surgical training and planning.
