In 1990, Prof. Repici graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Messina and received a scholarship the following year at the Department of Gastroenterology at Ospedale Molinette in Turin, where he began his career in digestive endoscopy. In 1992, he worked at the Centre Chirurgical de l’Alma in Paris and at Ospedale Molinette in Turin, and in 1993, he became a specialist in Gastroenterology at the University of Messina. In 1998, he received a scholarship in Surgical Endoscopy at Universitätskliniken in Tübingen, and in 1999, he worked as a member of the Therapeutic Endoscopy Department at Wellesley Hospital in Toronto, Canada.
From 1997 to 2005, he was a professor of Gastroenterology at the Oncology School, University of Turin. Since 2005, he has been the Director of the Digestive Endoscopy Unit at Humanitas Research Hospital, one of the largest endoscopy units in Italy, performing around 15,000 endoscopic procedures annually.
Since 2015, he has also been a professor of Gastroenterology at Humanitas University Medical School. In 2016, he was a visiting professor at Georgetown University in Washington, US, and in 2017, at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, US.
Prof. Repici has been a member of many national and international societies of Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy, including the Italian Society of Digestive Endoscopy (2005-2009 website director, 2012 president of the Strategic and Innovative Group), and the Italian Federation of Digestive Diseases (2009-2013 member of the Scientific Council).
He is currently a member of the Publication Committee of the World Gastroenterology Association, a member of the Editorial Boards of Digestive and Liver Diseases, Frontiers of Oncology, and Techniques in Coloproctology, and an Associate Editor of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is an expert member of the Italian National Health Institute and an official reviewer for medical projects supported by the European Union. He is also the founder of webendoscopy.com and the organizer of IMAGE, one of the largest live endoscopy courses in Europe.
