Andrea Rescalli

Andrea Rescalli is a Biomedical Engineer who completed his academic training at Politecnico di Milano. Throughout his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, he built a solid engineering foundation with a particular focus on electronic technologies for medical devices and sensing, including a background in signal processing and artificial intelligence. He then pursued a Ph.D. in Bioengineering, during which he developed firmware, signal acquisition pipelines, and AI-based algorithms for (bio)chemical sensor platforms, as well as portable point-of-care sensing devices. This path was further enriched by a research period at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he deepened his experience in electrochemical sensing and machine learning applied to the detection of biomarkers for diabetes and Parkinson’s disease.

Currently, Andrea works as a research engineer at the 3D Innovation Lab at Humanitas University, under the guidance of Eng. Paolo Oliva. Here, he focuses on electronic design and firmware/software development for medical devices, supporting both early-stage prototyping and industrial R&D projects in collaboration with external companies. His work aims to bridge engineering innovation and clinical application, translating advanced sensor and embedded system technologies into reliable medical solutions.
