Barbara Tolusso is a Project Manager at Humanitas Research Hospital, with a degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technologies from the University of Padua and over twenty years of experience in translational research in immunology and autoimmune rheumatic diseases. She is involved in the coordination of translational research programs, with a particular focus on European Horizon-funded projects, and supporting the integration of clinical and laboratory activities.

She began her research activity in experimental oncology as a research fellow at the Centro di Riferimento Oncologico (CRO) in Aviano (PN) and subsequently continued her work in rheumatology at the University of Udine, contributing to studies on the molecular mechanisms underlying autoimmune diseases. She later worked at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore-Fondazione Policlinico Universitario A. Gemelli IRCCS (Rome) from 2003 to 2024, where she was involved in laboratory programs dedicated to immune profiling and biomarker research.

Her research focuses on the identification of circulating and tissue biomarkers for patient stratification and prediction of therapeutic response in systemic autoimmune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and psoriatic arthritis. with particular expertise in the integration of clinical and molecular data.

She has contributed to the coordination and laboratory activities of phase I-IV clinical trials and investigator-initiated studies, supporting research activities aimed at the development of precision medicine approaches in rheumatology.
