Dilsan’s research in the Microbial Ecology Lab integrates experimental and computational approaches to investigate gut microbiome–host communication mediated by small molecules, focusing on the evolutionary dynamics of these interaction networks and key molecular effectors underlying host–microbe crosstalk. Her work also aims to develop computational and predictive frameworks to better understand microbiome-associated physiological processes and microbial adaptation within host systems across health and disease states.

Her background spans molecular biology, genetics, molecular evolution, biotechnology, bioinformatics, data science, and machine learning. Before joining Humanitas, she worked as a Data Scientist at Haier Europe, where she developed machine learning models and data engineering pipelines. She holds a Master’s degree in Molecular Biotechnology and Bioinformatics from University of Milan and a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics from Istanbul Technical University.

She is currently conducting research and pursuing her PhD in microbial ecology and computational biology at Humanitas University.
