Bioinformatician

Elisabetta Sciacca obtained her PhD in Complex Systems for Physical, Socio-economical and Life Sciences at University of Catania in joint collaboration with Queen Mary University of London (2021).

During her postdoctoral research at the William Harvey Research Institute in London (2021–2024), she specialized in bioinformatics, contributing to the advancement of precision medicine for autoimmune diseases. Her work focused on analysing and integrating omic data to identify biomarkers and stratify patients in clinical trials. She further supported the bioinformatics community by developing statistical tools and facilitating access to clinical trial data through interactive analysis web portals.

Since 2024, she has joined Humanitas University as part of the European MDR-RA project, where she contributes to the development of federated learning algorithms for the identification and validation of molecular phenotypes associated with multi-drug resistance in difficult-to-treat rheumatoid arthritis.
