Ibrahim is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Cell Biology of the Synapse Laboratory led by Dr. Matteo Fossati at Humanitas Research Hospital. His research focuses on understanding the role of KLHL17 in neuronal development and its contribution to neurodevelopmental disorders.

He received his degree in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Tishreen University in 2018 and completed a Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at the University of Milan in 2022. During his master’s studies, under the supervision of Dr. Riccardo Maria Cristofani (University of Milan), he conducted research on mouse models of Huntington’s disease at Heidelberg University under the supervision of Dr. Rosanna Parlato. This experience sparked his interest in neuroscience research.

In 2023, he joined Humanitas Research Hospital as a PhD student and earned his PhD in Molecular and Experimental Medicine from Humanitas University in 2026. During his doctoral studies, he investigated the function of KLHL17, a T-dark gene associated with West syndrome. He also contributed to the development of a C9ORF72-mutant mouse model of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) for testing RNA-targeted therapeutic approaches.

His research interests focus on the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying brain function. He has expertise in molecular and cellular biology, mouse models, advanced fluorescence microscopy, and quantitative image analysis.
