Ilaria earned her Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine from the Medical University of Graz (Austria) in 2020, in the laboratory of Prof. Christian Wadsack, with a thesis investigating the role of lipoproteins in placental vascular physiology and pathophysiology. She then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Paris Cardiovascular Research Center (PARCC), in the Vascular Development and Disease laboratory of Dr. Eric Camerer and Dr. Anne Eichmann, where she studied the role of bioactive lipids in cardiovascular and cerebrovascular homeostasis, with a focus on blood pressure regulation.
In 2025, Ilaria joined the laboratory of Prof. Michela Matteoli at Humanitas Research Hospital as a Senior Postdoctoral Fellow, where her current research explores how vascular–immune crosstalk at the blood–brain barrier contributes to cognitive dysfunction in the context of aging and cardiovascular diseases.
