Maria Vittoria Becca obtained her MS in Biotechnology and Medical Biology from San Raffaele University in 2024. Her master thesis was focused on the characterization of a mouse model of Dravet Syndrome (DS), a rare pediatric epileptic encephalopathy, with the aim of identifying the key interneuronal populations driving different DS phenotypes.

She then moved to Humanitas Institute and is currently pursuing a PhD in Molecular and Experimental Medicine in Michela Matteoli’s lab. She is participating in a project aiming at characterizing the role of microglia as a potential regulator of hypothalamic metabolism.
