Mohamed A.A.A. Hegazi graduated in Biomedical Engineering at the Università degli Studi di Pavia. Since May 2022, he has been working at Humanitas Research Hospital within the Department of Immunology and Inflammation, Histology Core, where he contributes to multidisciplinary translational research projects at the interface of histopathology, clinical medicine, and biomedical engineering. His work is mainly focused on the development of quantitative, computational, and data-driven methodologies for biomedical and clinical research, with applications in oncological and non-oncological diseases and precision medicine.
During his research activity, he has contributed to the design and validation of advanced biomedical technologies and analytical pipelines, including the development of an electronic nose system for the early, non-invasive detection of prostate cancer and the assessment of tumor aggressiveness, in collaboration with Politecnico di Milano. His work also includes the design and implementation of computer-aided diagnostic tools for digital pathology, with particular attention to artificial intelligence and machine learning approaches for tissue segmentation, quantitative biomarker extraction, spatial analysis, and multimodal data integration. In parallel, he develops bioinformatic and statistical pipelines for large-scale genomic and transcriptomic data analysis, supporting biomarker discovery and functional interpretation in oncology.
He is involved in national and international collaborative research networks and has contributed to peer-reviewed scientific publications, book chapters, and abstracts presented at national and international meetings.
