Myriam Antonaci obtained her Master’s degree in Medical Biotechnology from the University of Piemonte Orientale, where her thesis focused on the development of a 3D osteosarcoma model. During an Erasmus+ traineeship at the Institute of Biomaterials (Erlangen, Germany), she designed and fabricated the 3D-printed scaffolds used in the project. Throughout her research training, she gained expertise in cancer biology, tissue engineering, biomaterials, and advanced 3D in vitro models.
She is currently a Research Fellow at Humanitas Research Hospital in the Hepatobiliary Immunopathology Laboratory, where she investigates novel therapeutic strategies for cholangiocarcinoma using advanced organ-on-chip models, with a focus on enhancing tumor antigenicity and improving responses to immunotherapy.
Her research interests include cancer immunology, tumor microenvironment modeling, organ-on-chip technologies, and the development of advanced 3D in vitro models to reduce the use of animal models. She is particularly interested in liver biology and the development of physiologically relevant models to study hepatobiliary malignancies, in close collaboration with the Hepatobiliary Surgery Unit, with the aim of advancing innovative preclinical models for translational oncology.
