Silvia Marsano graduated in Parma in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology in 2025. During her thesis internship in the laboratory of Prof. Michela Matteoli, she studied the role of the microglial receptor TREM2 in controlling hippocampal spines and synapses formation.

She is currently a PhD student in Matteoli’s lab. She is characterizing the sex-differences underlying neuronal maturation, both in health and disease. Her work focuses on the understanding of the sex-based mechanisms of neurodevelopmental disorders.
