Alessandro Mesaglio graduated in Biotechnology at Università degli Studi di Trieste in 2020, where he wrote a thesis on the rising matter of antibiotic resistance. He then graduated in Biology and Medical Biotechnology at Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele in 2023 where he conducted a one-year pre-doctoral fellowship at Chromatin Dynamics Unit.

His aim was to study and reprogram macrophages in the context of solid tumors in in vivo and in vitro cancer models. There he developed a profound interest for the tumor microenvironment and the crosstalk between cancer and immune cell populations in the context of immunotherapies.

To follow up on his interest to study the tumor microenvironment he applied for a PhD in Molecular and Experimental Medicine at Humanitas University where he is currently studying the role and reprogramming of neutrophils in malignant gliomas under the supervision of Professor Raffaella Bonecchi in the Chemokine Biology Lab.
