Federica Corrao

After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Palermo in 2018, Federica joined the double degree program between the Universities of Palermo and La Coruña in Spain, obtaining both an Italian Master’s Degree in Molecular and Health Biology and a Spanish Master’s Degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Genetic Biology in 2020.

She subsequently performed her PhD studies in Technologies and Science for Human Health at the University of Palermo, during which she spent six months at the Institut Necker des Enfants Malades, in Paris, France. She was awarded her PhD degree in 2023 with her thesis entitled: “Evaluation of the biodistribution and activity of new optimized readthrough molecules in Cystic Fibrosis mouse model and other model systems”.

In 2024, she started her postdoctoral research activity in the team of Marie-Louise Bang at the Institute of Genetic and Biomedical Research of the Italian National Research Council (IRGB-CNR) at Humanitas Research Hospital in Milan. Her research activity is focused on elucidating the role of cytoskeletal proteins in cardiac and skeletal muscle structure, function and disease.
