Martin Mihula graduated in Biology and subsequently in Immunology at the Faculty of Science of Charles University in Prague (The Czech Republic). He was a part of a research group at the 3rd Faculty of Medicine of Charles University in Prague (Laboratory of Metabolism and Bioenergetics) and at the Institute of Microbiology of the Czech Academy of Sciences (Laboratory of Cellular and Molecular Immunology). There, he focused on the connection between microbiota and various human diseases, such as psoriasis, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), and multiple sclerosis.

Currently, Dr. Mihula is a PhD student of Innovation in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of infections at epidemic-pandemic risk at the University of Siena (Italy). He’s doing his PhD project at the Mucosal Immunology and Microbiota Laboratory led by Prof. Maria Rescigno. The main research focus of Dr. Mihula is on bioinformatics tools related to studying the connection between oral microbiota, COVID-19, and COVID-19 vaccination.
